![]() ![]() Oftentimes a copy of this file will be included with the download, however if you're still in need of a copy you can find one here.Ah, the old fan favorite from Klingon Academy. This file is placed directly under the KlingonAcademy directory, and not in the "scripts" folder. This file is used on mods that use a custom graphic on it's beam weapons, and tells the game what graphics to use on the weapon. Sometimes a mod's readme will ask you to copy a line into the "Phasrtex.dat" file. This is where the QBShips.txt file will be placed, and you can find a downloadable copy and instructions on using the QBShips lines here. If you're setting up mods for the first time, you'll need to make a folder under your KlingonAcademy directory called "scripts". This file is what the game uses to determine what goes into your Quick Battle Ships Menu and links the mod's folders to each menu item. The next step is to add the QBShips line to the "QBShips.txt" file. Alternatively, if you're not sure about how the mod will unpack, you can unpack it to a temporary folder to check the files first, then move the folders into your KA directory once you've checked the files. When unzipping or running the exe, you can unpack the zip/rar/exe directly into your "KlingonAcademy" directory, and the folder setup will automatically be generated. Exe's will automatically have these folders set up as well. Zip and rar programs will need their "retain folder info" options turned on, however most programs should be using this as a default. It's a good idea to review this text, as the modder will often include installation instructions, as well as other operating and background info on the mod.Įach downloaded file should include the necessary folder setup for use in Klingon Academy within the compressed file itself. This will often be a separate txt file in ziped files, or sometimes as an onscreen window in exe mods. Included with each download should be a readme. "Exe" files will unzip by themselves and also won't need a separate program to unpack them. Windows XP has zip capabilities built into it's "Windows Explorer" program, so WinXP users shouldn't need to obtain a separate program for this. "Zip" and "rar" files will require a compression program to open them, such as WinZip or PKZip (for zip files), or WinRAR (for both zip and rar files). Each of these methods compresses the mod's files into one convenient file that makes downloading easier. Almost all mods will be packaged as either an "exe", a "zip" or an "rar" file. Installing mods for Klingon Academy is very simple. ![]()
